Meet Amanda Thiessen RSW, MSW
I works with workplace issues including bullying and harassment (those targeted and those accused), burnout, compassion fatigue, career transitions, work related depression and anxiety, + invisible disabilities (ADHD, autoimmune diseases, etc.)
I have been practicing and teaching in these areas for approximately 9 years.
My therapeutic style…
My style is grounded in empathy, warmth, and understanding. I work collaboratively with you on whatever you bring into the room.
I use an integrative approach based in many modalities including affective neuroscience, attachment theory, emotion theory, and body-focused (also called somatic) approaches to support healing and recovery from burnout, compassion fatigue and trauma. I use a systems approach to navigate workplace relationships.
Anti-oppressive practice is a core principle of my work. I am committed to continuing to learn about and work toward socially just practices and systems in my practice.
Since everyone is unique in the way they approach life and suffering, I tailor my approach to what you need and who you are.
I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, heal, and live a joy filled life.
We may be a good match if:
If you have a strong preference for bottom up, emotion focused processes.
If you are comfortable looking inward.
If you are in a profession where you work with people and care about your impact.
We may NOT be a good match if:
If you have a strong preference for top down therapeutic style (you like CBT etc).
If you are very uncomfortable being reflective.
If you are wanting advice without reflection or collaboration.
If you are wanting practical help with resume writing, interview prep etc.
If your basic needs aren’t met.
If you are in a mental health crisis (e.g. acute suicidal or homicidal ideation, active psychosis).
